From what DREAMS are made of...

After much work on my new baby boys geared bedding sets ,I've finally listed them in my shop

I LOVE how they turned out and really hope my customers will appreciate my new line and the huge amount of time I'd spent on  designing and creating each, all in order to bring something that is truly unique and OOAK to the table

I call this set "The Rocking Boat" :)
This nautical, vintage inspired ,nostalgic set  is a work of art really-
And I thought it would be interesting to all my existing and potential customers to see, how I made it ...Which materials were  used ...and what tools helped  make it all happen
A story of crib bumper birth really... The stuff that the dreams are made of :)
So here is how it all begins

First of ,I design all the elements I'm going to use to make the cushions  in Photoshop and cut a stencil/template of them using Silhouette cutter
Next  comes my trusty helper-my XYRON Creatopia Machine loaded with repositionable adhesive cartridge .
I use it to apply an even layer of repo glue on the back side of my stencil so I can easily screen print the design of the clouds to my cotton squares
I glue the cut outs to the fabric using the stencil as my guide to the right placement of the elements
Lay my silk screen on top and apply a small amount of ink
 Flood the screen with ink
And the clouds are ready :)

 Next is the appliques stage-
I source lots of fabric scraps in blue color scheme and run them all through my Creatopia Machine that is now loaded with Fabric adhesive cartridge

I do the same with other planned shapes and now when all my scraps are evenly coated with adhesive
I assemble the fabric collage by adding and stitching the cut appliques as I go
 Everything has been machine embroider

  Adding more shapes...

  and machine embroider again ...
The little boat gets some colour treatment
and a company of a little birdie on a log
Adding  some hand stitching  for the final touch  :)
And now when I'm happy with the result ,I start to think of the next three cushions-the patterned ones.
To make those, I had upcycle three old men's shirts  :)
And after they were done, I added some decorative elements to the screen-printed/embroidered cushions  using scraps of those shirt-each cushion and it's own connecting pattern

Ta Da :)

The second crib bumper set is a Hand dyed set done using the Shibory technique
And the third set is a mix of both sets :)

I really do hope you'll LOVE them as much as I do :)

New projects ...New ideas...Baby Boy's Bedding in mind

I love designing the nursery bedding line for my kids shop.recently ,I figured, that almost all of my items are geared towards girls (I wonder why :D ) ,so I decided to give something great for the little boys too!
Here is a sneak peek to my new design
I call it "Rocking Boat "
The inspiration for the design  came to me by a total coincidence -my 2.5 year old princess,Sheluv was playing a tune on her IPad ,I asked her what is it the song that she's listening to and she'd show me this totally adorable animated kid's song that was so amazing I immediately started to work on the "inspired by" collection
Each square is hand screen printed then after appliqued ,free hand machine embroidered ,hand stitched and hand drawn
This is the first square I made (I added some additional details later on,but you can see the overall idea :)

Second square for the set

Third square for the Set

Now these squares will soon become a set of 6 crib bumper pads ,so to complete the set I needed 3 more creative artworks and I couldn't find anything better then the idea of dyeing some blank white cotton squares with the wonderful Shibory technique
I couldn't be more happy with the results

 Preparation

Line drying after dye bath
RESULTS
How cool is the totally nautical vibe these have ,ha :)
and they work perfectly with my quilted squares

ALL material beside the dye powder were upcycled fabric scraps from men's button down shirts and vintage linens

To make my life MUCH more easier,I used Silhouette cutter to cut my own designs out of fabric and XYRON Creatopia Machine with fabric adhesive cartridge to securely glue my cut appliques prior stitching
Hope you like it :)

Is it Sleeping Fairy

Baby sleeping problem is well known issue any mother with a newborn gets to meet first hand sooner or later
Sheluv's issues with the sleeping fairy were due to the jumping reflex most infant have .
Cherifa ,my french artist friend has recommended me to make for Sheluv a sleeping sack to sleep in at nights.
She told me how her 6 month old son is sleeping in one since his birth and showed me some pics of available styles and  varieties
I've chosen one style that looked the most comfortable to me and headed to the drafting board

Here is what I designed and sewed for Sheluv
Mimi Ourson (bear cub) Appliquéd and Hand Screen-Printed padded Sleeping Sack
My baby bear design was cut with Silhouette cutter and freehand machine embroidered onto 100% cotton fabric which was then hand screen-printed with Cherifa's lovely illustrations and then padded with wadding and sewn together to the cutest sleeping bag ever
The night I put Sheluv to sleep in her new sleep sack was the first night we all slept peacefully till about 4AM!!!
I STRONGLY recommend to any new mama getting one of these for her sweet pie

Available to purchase in my shop here

This mimi ourson sleeping bag is part of the snuggle buddies collection I'm working on, which also will include-
♥sweet bunny rabbit
♥ havhav
♥ miau
♥ petit bear
♥ snuggly bear
♥ baby elephant

(here below is the rabbit design sewn onto a changing pad cover-since the sack is made to order, the same bunny-rabbit will feature on your sleep sack if you choose to )
